Importance of Learning English

English is one of the most important languages for education, employment, communication and access to knowledge in the modern world. For Bangladeshi students, learning English is particularly important because it is widely used in higher education, science, technology, business, international communication and many professional fields. English is not merely another academic subject; it can be a practical skill that opens the door to a much wider world of information and opportunity. According to the British Council's Next Generation Bangladesh 2024 report, only about 5% of young people in Bangladesh reported being fluent in English, although 79% considered English important. This difference clearly shows that many young people understand the value of English but do not yet have sufficient confidence or proficiency in using it. A student who develops good English skills can read international books, research papers, websites and educational materials that may not be available in Bangla. English is also important for un
