Every human being needs a direction in life. Without a clear goal, life is like a ship sailing in the middle of the ocean without a compass—it just drifts around without ever reaching a shore. Having an aim in life gives us a reason to wake up every morning with energy and purpose. For a student appearing in the Secondary School Certificate (SSC) examinations, deciding on a career goal is incredibly important because it helps focus their hard work and studies.
My aim in life is to become a doctor. This choice is not driven by a desire for wealth, fame, or social status. Instead, it comes from a deeply human place: the desire to help people who are suffering and to make my society a healthier, happier place to live.
The health sector in our country faces huge challenges. Statistically, Bangladesh has less than 1 doctor for every 1,000 people, which is far below the minimum recommendation of the World Health Organization (WHO). This shortage creates a huge burden on our medical system. In many of our villages and rural areas, proper hospitals are nearly non-existent.
