Rickshaw Puller & A Lottery Ticket
Rahim was a poor rickshaw puller in Dhaka city. Every morning, he would wake up before sunrise, say his prayers, and pull his rickshaw out onto the busy streets. He worked hard from morning until late at night, under the hot sun and in the pouring rain. His body was thin and weak. His clothes were old and torn. But he never complained. He had a wife and two small children to feed. He worked hard every single day to give them one simple meal.
Life was very difficult for Rahim. His rickshaw was very old. The tyres were worn out, and the chains made a loud, terrible noise. Many passengers refused to sit in his rickshaw. They said it was too old and uncomfortable. Rahim tried his best to save some money to buy a new rickshaw. But every day, after paying his rent and buying food, he had almost nothing left. His dream of buying a new rickshaw seemed impossible. He often felt sad and hopeless.
